Nick Hakim Shares Video for New Song “Roller Skates”: Watch

On May 19, New York-based musician Nick Hakim releases his full-length debut Green Twins (via ATO Records). He’s already shared the title track and the second song, “Bet She Looks Like You.” Today, he’s released the album’s third song, “Roller Skates,” along with its animated music video. Set at a roller rink, the clip finds cartoon Hakim gazing around to find everyone suffering in some way. The video was directed by Micah Buzan, who “wanted to tell a simple story about lonely characters who all desire something they can’t seem to get—be it love, a stuffed animal, or the ability to skate well.” Watch Nick Hakim’s “Roller Skates” video below.

In a press release, Hakim explained:

This song’s first verse is about a night when I got really stoned at my friend’s house and forgot to meet up with my partner. It was pouring rain outside and when I realized I was late, I biked through Bed-Stuy as fast as I could through the rain to find her but she was gone.... The second verse is about patching it up, not leaving her house for a couple days. It’s a love song.

Prior to Green Twins, Hakim released two 2014 EPs: Where Will We Go, Pt. I and Where Will We Go, Pt. II. Below, find his upcoming tour dates, as well as the tracklist and cover artwork for Green Twins.

Radiohead Announce New OK Computer Reissue Featuring 3 Unreleased Tracks

Recently, a series of posters popped up in cities across the globe with cryptic messaging. They also included the years 1997 and 2017. Naturally, Radiohead fans figured there was some connection to the band, particularly to the 20th anniversary of OK Computer. The band then shared a cryptic teaser with “Climbing Up the Wall” lyrics. Now, Radiohead have confirmed a brand new reissue of the record. It’s called OKNOTOK. Along with the original record (remastered from the original analog tapes), the reissue includes three unreleased tracks and eight B-sides. The digital version is out June 23, and physical editions are shipping in July (via XL).

The three unreleased songs on OKNOTOK are “I Promise,” “Man of War,” and “Lift,” which Ed O’Brien once called “a bogshite B-Side,” but Jonny Greenwood said is a “management-favorite.” The “Boxed Edition” comes in a black box with heavyweight 180 gram 12” vinyl records, a hardcover book with over 30 pieces of art, a notebook with 104 pages of scrawled Thom Yorke notes, a 48-page sketchbook of Stanley Donwood and Yorke’s “preperatory work,” and a cassette mixtape with OK Computer demo and session tapes. Find more information here. Clicking through Radiohead’s website reveals that they’ve uploaded much of Donwood and Yorke’s artwork for fans to check out, in what appears to be a recreation of Radiohead’s website from 1997.

OK Computer came out on May 21, 1997. In June, Radiohead head back out on tour behind A Moon Shaped Pool. The North American leg of the trek wrapped up in April with two Coachella sets.
