Chad Hugo has announced his official retirement from the music industry. The producer and songwriter best known for being one-half of the Neptunes and a member of N.E.R.D. (both with Pharrell) issued a tweet earlier today saying, “I resign from the music business. Thanks again, people, for your support throughout all these years. Good luck/God bless!” (He’s since deleted the original tweet; find a screenshot below.) While N.E.R.D. have not released an album since 2010’s Nothing, Pharrell hinted at a new full-length from them back in November at ComplexCon, saying it would come “when it’s time.” The status of that album is unknown. Pitchfork has reached out to reps for Pharrell for comment.
