Listen to Father John Misty’s New Album Pure Comedy

Father John Misty’s new album, Pure Comedy, is out now. Listen below. This is Tillman’s first full-length record since 2015’s I Love You, Honeybear. The 75-minute album was co-produced by Josh Tillman and Jonathan Wilson and was led by a 25-minute documentary about the making of the album. In January, he wrote a nearly 2000-word essay about the album’s inspiration. More recently, he spoke with Elton John about the album during Elton’s “Rocket Hour” show. Father John Misty will tour in support of the album; find the full itinerary here.

Speaking with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 earlier tonight before the release of the album, Tillman was asked about the Taylor Swift-referencing song “Total Entertainment Forever.” “That’s gonna be a whole to-do,” he said. “Who else rhymes with ‘Oculus Rift?’ That was a case of, ‘I’m on the cliff and I’m gonna jump off.’”
